SipHours is a local-first hydration tracker. We do not create accounts, run ads, or operate a backend that receives your logs. What you enter in the app is stored on this device unless you choose to delete it.

1 Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how SipHours (published by AlrightTech) handles information when you use the Android or iOS app.

SipHours is designed to work fully offline. The app processes information on your device to provide hydration tracking, reminders, streaks, challenges, and collectible characters. We do not operate a server that stores or analyzes your personal data.

2 Information We Collect

SipHours does not collect information on AlrightTech servers. If you use the app, the following is saved locally on your device so the app can calculate your goal, show progress, and remember preferences:

Profile: weight, sex, optional pregnancy or breastfeeding flag, activity level, climate, daily goal, units (mL or oz), and theme.
Hydration logs: beverage, amount, time, effective hydration, and caffeine estimate.
Reminders: on/off, active hours, and interval or fixed times.
Progress: streaks, daily recaps, challenges, unlocked characters, and favorite drinks.

The app also stores bundled, non-personal content such as beverage definitions, character art, challenges, and hydration tips that ship with the app.

3 How We Use Information

On-device data is used only to operate SipHours, including to:

Calculate or remember your daily hydration goal
Record drinks and show today’s fill, history, and recaps
Maintain streaks, challenges, and character unlocks
Schedule or suppress local reminders based on your pace
Apply light, dark, or system theme and unit preferences

We do not use this information for advertising, profiling, or resale.

4 Data Storage

All personal and usage data entered in SipHours is stored in a local SQLite database on your device. Data remains on the device until you reset it, clear app storage, or uninstall the app. AlrightTech does not keep a remote copy.

5 Notifications & Reminders

SipHours may ask for notification permission so it can send optional local hydration reminders. Reminders are created on this device with the operating system’s notification APIs. They are not sent from a remote server.

On Android, scheduling may also use alarm-related permissions so reminders can survive a restart. The app reads the device timezone locally so reminder times stay correct. We do not receive those timestamps. You can turn reminders off in Settings or revoke notification permission in system settings.

6 Health/Hydration Data

SipHours provides general hydration guidance, not medical advice. Consult a healthcare provider for specific needs.

Optional profile fields such as weight, sex, pregnancy, or breastfeeding are used only to suggest a daily water goal on your device. Drink logs and caffeine estimates stay on the device. SipHours does not read or write Apple Health, Health Connect, or wearable health platforms.

8 Third-Party Services

The SipHours app does not include advertising, analytics, social login, crash-reporting, or cloud-sync SDKs.

This public Privacy Policy page is hosted on Vercel so app stores and users can read it. Visiting this website is separate from using the app and may create ordinary web server access logs under Vercel’s policies. The app itself does not send your hydration data to that host.

9 Data Security

Because SipHours does not transmit your profile or drink logs over the network as part of normal use, security mainly depends on your device lock, OS updates, and whether you share the phone.

We recommend keeping your device locked and up to date. If you enable system backups, those backups follow your platform provider’s security practices.

10 Children's Privacy

SipHours is a general hydration tracker and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Because the app does not create accounts or transmit profile data to us, we cannot identify a child’s use on our servers. If you believe a child has entered personal details on a shared device, reset local data in Settings or uninstall the app.

11 Your Choices & Data Control

Edit data: change your goal, profile, units, theme, favorites, and individual drink logs in the app.
Delete everything: Settings → Reset all local data permanently clears logs, progress, and settings on this device and restarts onboarding.
Reminders: disable them in SipHours or revoke notification permission in system settings.
Uninstall: removing the app deletes its local database unless a system backup restores it later.

12 Changes to This Privacy Policy

If our practices change — for example if a future version adds an account or cloud sync — we will update this policy, the “Last updated” date, this public web page, and the in-app Privacy Policy screen. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.

This page describes how the current SipHours app actually works. It is provided so you, Google Play, and the App Store can review our practices. It is not legal advice.
